Huari sits almost directly east of Huaraz on the eastern side of the great Cordillera Blanca. It takes about 4-5 hours to arrive on those lovely chicken buses where you feel scared for your life >50% of the time.
We visited Huari with the sole purpose of visiting Rosa, our friend and owner of Chifa Dragon Andina. I often ate here when walking over to Huari from Cajay. Somewhere in the process, we also became good friends with her family. Alvaro was only two when we left the PC, and Viviana was born a year after we left. They have grown up so much since we left! Rosa and Juan have also been able to build their own restaurant and home, which I must say, continues to be the best chifa I have eaten in Peru!

Parque in Huari. Probably the best thing about the town (aside from Chifa Dragon Andina) |

Our favorite family in Huari. Juan, Rosa, Alvaro and Viviana who wasn't even born when we lived in Conchucos. |

Alvaro and Viviana. Cute kids. Marta played Lobo and Chanchitos with them. Marta blew their cardboard house down. |

Best Chifa in Peru. No question. |
