Cambodia: Siem Reap, Tuesday - live bloggin' it

A rare treat that we actually update our blog on the same day. Unfortunately, with the travels and internet connection, we haven't been able to keep up as well as I would like and disappointingly haven't posted all the photos as of yet. But, I will keep working to get caught up this morning...

"Drew - you are not allowed to throw rocks at them. That's not funny." Number one on Marta's threatdown list at breakfast today: Komodo Dragons. Her annoyance at my stone-throwing suggestion and her Wikipedia research on the land beasts in bed this morning stems from our dinner last night with Marta's friend Sarah Conway - who happens to be in Siem Reap. She is traveling with her friends and our future travel partners Sara (from Oman - doing public health work in Bali) and Laurie (Conway's roomate from California - also working in Bali).

Anyhow... we were talking about our upcoming dive trip to Komodo National Park in Indonesia and Conway, Sara and Laurie were talking about the dangers of Komodo Dragons which live in the aptly named park. Apparently Komodo Dragons are a force to be reckoned with as evidenced by a local kid who was killed by one after throwing rocks at it. Rumors have it that they can smell blood hundreds of meters away and females that are menstruating shouldn't enter the park. Okay - that is gross... If Marta comes up with any other crack research on Komodo Dragons, we will let you all know. Until then, it stays number one on the threatdown list.

Just some packing this morning as we ready for our afternoon trip to Phnom Penh. Perhaps a quick shopping run and a dip in the pool will also be in order...
